Corruption Occurs while Sharing iPhoto Library on Network
IPhoto is powerful application used for managing photos. You can keep track of your photos and edit them to provide them best look. It is designed in such a way that it allows importing of photos from digital camera, scanners and Internet etc. There comes a time when you want to share your albums, keywords of your iPhoto library with your family or friends over the network. Sharing iPhoto Library on network is possible only when user enable read write access for the iPhoto Library on each user account. Sharing of iPhoto Library allows multiple users to view and edit iPhoto. It can be done by two ways by transferring it to external drive and through shared network volume. .
Transfer iPhoto Library to External hard drive
- Attach the external drive to your system and on it
- Left side of Finder window indicates an icon, click it and highlight “Get info”
- Close the Get info window after checking the box “ignore ownership on this volume”
- Select home from finder and open the Pictures folder
- Now drag the iPhoto library to the left side icon of Finder Window
- Select the location of iPhoto library by holding down the Option key

Sharing iPhoto Library on network through shared network volume
You can share your iPhoto Library on shared network volume if your system is network through Ethernet or 100BaseT. It can be done as follows:
- After opening the host MAC open sharing preference pane and click start
- Open finder window on each MAC system
- Select Network icon and click on host MAC connect
- After that type username and password
- To mount the volume select the home directory
- Click Ok button and you will find network volume
- Select Choose Library option by holding down the Option key and select iPhoto Library folder
Sharing iPhoto Library on network can be easily done by above mentioned methods but sometimes your iPhoto library gets and corrupted and you lose your photos. In that situation you can use iPhoto Recovery software to restore your lost photos.
